The Alabama Forestry Commission is proposing two new administrative regulations concerning VFD certifications. One such rule would establish a process for VFDs that refuse or fail to respond to an inspection request. The other proposed rule would establish a process for VFDs that wish to voluntarily give up certification. The proposed new rules have been endorsed by the Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments and the Rural Community Fire Protection Steering Committee. The Alabama Forestry Commission is accepting comments on the proposed new rules until December 7, 2018.
